Semester-long PR campaign

Semester-long PR campaign.pdf (52KB)

Note to lecturers:
This is a semester-long exercise that asks students to form a PR consultancy and run a campaign for various sectors; for example, public sector, local business or community organisations.

Students should be assigned to groups at the start of semester, with a different sector for each group if possible.

You may wish to provide students with this guide to PR campaigns for the public sector.

Public Relations Planning.pdf (52KB)

Note to lecturers:
This exercise asks students to divide into groups and plan a campaign for SARS immunisation for the State Department of Health.

We recommend that students should be given one hour during their PR tutorial to consider their options. The class should then reconvene to discuss the outcome.

If necessary, you can print out and photocopy this handout for use in tutorials.

Learning outcomes:

  • To start thinking like a PR consultant;
  • To use your knowledge of PR to come up with a practical plan to reach a desired objective;
  • To work quickly to conceptualise and strategically plan a complex public relations activity.
