Comprehension is not something that comes automatically. The latest research shows that students can be helped to develop comprehension skills by the explicit teaching of certain aspects of comprehension and by offering students specific strategies to help build these aspects. Reading Between the Lines is designed to help teachers reinforce the idea that reading comprehension takes many forms, and covers many different text types.
