Oxford Big Ideas: Mathematics has been designed and built to support the development of conceptual understanding as students move along the learning continuum. The learning epxeriences have been carefully sequenced to ensure that the connections to the big ideas of mathematics are not left to chance. As well as supporting teachers to implement the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics, Oxford Big: Mathematics provides a high level of support to enhance professional knowledge and practice.
Oxford Big Ideas: Mathematics provides opportunities for deep learning through discovering, exploring and connecting key mathematical concepts, arranged according to the strands and sub-strands of the new Australian Curriculum: Mathematics. Students will discover each new big idea by building on existing ideas and then explore and connect with the big idea to encourage deeper understanding.
The Foundation kit - Building Mathematics in the Early Years, will be available in 2011. All resources for Years 5 and 6 and Years 3 and 4 will be available in 2012 in perfect time for 2013 implementation of the new curriculum.
