ZigZags is an engaging series of 30 fiction titles that use humour and appealing full-colour illustrations to involve students actively in the reading process. It is a comprehensive, easy-to-use instructional reading series for students in their third, fourth and fifth years of primary school, and is designed to support and extend young readers who can already read many books independently. ZigZags comprises of ten fiction titles (sold in a pack) and one Teachers' Guide for each of the following levels: Pack 1 – Levels 17–20; Pack 2 – Levels 21–24; Pack 3 – Levels 25–26. Features

- Each story is a full-colour chapter book and can be used with a whole class or with small groups

- Levelling indicated clearly on the back cover of each book
- Each Teachers' Guide provides detailed lesson tasks and directions for each of the ten titles in that Pack. These include:

- Chapter-by-chapter guided reading notes
- Questions and activities that develop comprehension skills (literal, inferential, interpretive, evaluative, appreciative and applied), vocabulary, phonics and phonemic awareness, and fluency
- Assessment tasks
- Three reproducible blackline masters for each story
- The teachers' notes are designed to support beginning teachers by providing a wide range of suggestions for what might be said, done, ensuring that thorough teaching occurs.
