An Instructor's Resource Manual is available to adopters of this text. This Manual is designed to assist lecturers and tutors using Classroom Management: Engaging Students in Learning in their course.
The Instructor's Resource Manual sets out 12 skills-based sessions in classroom management and instruction. The sessions build upon the textbook and provide the lecturer or tutor with step-by-step guidelines for engaging pre-service teacher education students. The sessions are designed to help students to develop their management plan, to integrate the theory into their practice and to develop a range of skills, a language of discipline and the confidence to deal with the typical behaviours they will face as practising teachers.

Topic 2: Meeting Student Needs
Topic 3: Connecting with Students
Topic 4: Frameworks to View Student Behaviour
Topic 5: Establishing Classroom Guidelines
Topic 6: Lesson Design—Mental Set
Topic 7: Framing Questions
Topic 8: Cooperative Learning
Topic 9: The Need to go Beyond Zero Tolerance and Punishment in Working with Vulnerable Youth
Topic 10: Coping with Defiance
Topic 11: Conflict as a Source of Professional Learning
Topic 12: The Effective Teacher's Learning Journey
The workshops include a wide range of resources for tutors to select from, such as lecture suggestions, tutorial discussion, activities, management plan development, and assessment ideas. There are also Tutor's Tip boxes that are aimed at supporting tutors in telling the story behind the theory or activity.
