We’ve got you
covered for the new
English Syllabus
Senior English in Queensland is changing to support the introduction of new assessment and tertiary
entrance systems. The new syllabus is designed to develop the 21st-century skills and knowledge
students need for success in their future work and life.
Changes to Queensland Senior English affect all aspects of teaching and learning – new teaching
content, new course structure and a new approach to assessment.
Students will only complete four summative assessment tasks in Year 12, which will entail program
redesign at the school level. Prescribed text lists for Units 3 and 4 will require new content to be
developed in many schools, and will also have an impact on text choices for Units 1 and 2.
Our brand new two-volume series, English for Queensland, is designed to exemplify possible learning
pathways and model approaches to text analysis and creation by providing depth and complete
coverage of the new syllabus in a format that encourages all students to succeed.
