Develop the building blocks of handwriting with a phonics- aligned approach

Oxford Handwriting for Victoria 3e is a comprehensive and engaging program designed to introduce and develop the fundamental skills of handwriting. Written for the Victorian curriculum, the program develops the building blocks of handwriting, while providing tips on correct posture, grip models, joining techniques, and activities to help every student develop a fluent, automatic handwriting style using the Victorian Modern Cursive handwriting font.

This image shows a page from the Oxford Handwriting for Victoria Year 1 student workbook. The page is to learn the letter C. At the top of the page is reminders to check the 3 ps, posture, pencil grip and paper position, as well as a reminder to do warm up exercises, which are shown at the start of the book. Next is some visual guidance on forming the letter c, followed by a section for the student to track, trace and copy the letter c, and below that, words starting with c.

Student Workbooks

The student workbooks are used to support independent letter formation and help students build speed and fluency. For years F–2, the words are fully decodable to support a phonics-aligned approach. Students learn letters in the order of the Letters and Sounds scope and sequence, so they can learn to write letters as they learn to read them. For years 3–6, each year level has an interesting and informative theme to engage the students as they learn cursive writing and improve speed and legibility.

The books include:

  • Information on the 3Ps: posture, pencil grip and paper position
  • Warm-up exercises, including tracing activities and hand stretches
  • Check your progress and self-assessment checkpoints
  • Fun, colourful characters and imagery
