  4. If you permit a student to directly use the electronic version of the OUPANZ Material, the file shall be copy-protected or you must take precautions to ensure that the student does not copy or distribute electronic versions of the OUP Material.
  5. The original electronic copy may only be lent or given away with written approval of OUPANZ. In such an event, any accessible copies and associated electronic files must be deleted or transferred with the original copy.
  6. The OUPANZ Material cannot be adapted, edited, altered, amended or distorted in any way, other than to enable full access, without our written permission.
  7. Any moral rights the author may have in the work must be respected, and the copyright will remain with the copyright holder.

Small Order Surcharge – (does not apply to schools) OUPANZ Small Order Surcharge is $12.50 (inc. GST). Small orders are held for seven days unless release is specifically requested. When the value of combined orders exceeds $100net (exc. GST) the order is released without small order surcharge. If after 7 working days combined orders are less than $100net (exc. GST) they are automatically released and incur the surcharge.

Problems with Orders or Deliveries

Please contact customer service.

When making inquiries about your order, please provide your account number, order number, and the ISBN or title of the book(s) ordered. If you don't have an account with us, please let us know your name, where you are from, how you paid for the book(s), and the ISBN or title of the book(s).

Delivery Times

Goods will be dispatched from our warehouse within 4 working days from receipt of order provided the goods are in stock and available. Within most of Australia, your book should take between five and ten working days to arrive, provided the book is in stock.

Remote areas may take up to 14 days.

New Zealand shipments are air-freighted Fridays. Allow one to two weeks for delivery. NZ customers please send your orders to customer service no later than Thursday midday (for Friday flight).

Non stock items are ordered from overseas suppliers once a week. To minimise the delivery time for your orders please ensure your order is received by our customer service team by Monday afternoon.

What is it?

The Oxford University Press ONIX data file is an industry standard and ONIX compliant, data file that enables accurate sharing of book information.

Features of the ONIX Data File

In addition to the basic book data, the following information is available in the ONIX data file.

  • Bibliographical data including blurbs, reviews, table of contents & extracts.
  • Links to cover images.
  • Accurate price and availability data and discount codes to calculate accurate selling prices.

Format and data file options available

The ONIX data file is an XML data file that is produced daily. It can be downloaded as a complete file and/or as an incremental file (a file with only data changes from the previous day).

To access either the complete or incremental file, simply click on the link to open the feed and then save to your computer.

Freight & Handling

Website orders for printed books within Australia are charged $6.25 per order. Orders are delivered via courier. If you provide a PO Box address your order will be sent via express post. There are no delivery charges for website orders for ebooks/obooks.

Freight and handling for email and phone orders within Australia and New Zealand is $12.50, unless otherwise specified.

If purchasing from overseas freight and handling will be quoted along with details of your delivery and payment requirements.

Returns policy

Oxford University Press will accept the return of goods purchased on a cash sale basis within fourteen days of purchase. The goods must be in mint condition, and any plastic wrapping must be intact. Such items as CD-ROMs, audio cassettes, redeemed online access codes and videos cannot be returned.

Oxford University Press must be notified of damaged or faulty goods within fourteen days of purchase.

Delivery turnaround times

If you have ordered using a street address the order will be delivered by courier. The turnaround times vary from state to state. If you have ordered using a PO Box address these orders will be sent via Australia Post which is only dispatched twice a week. Submitting a proposal to Primary or Secondary Division

If you have a publishing idea and would like to know how to present it to the Oxford Primary or Secondary Divisions, please read the guidelines below on how to submit a proposal.

Oxford University Press has a strong local publishing program, publishing dictionaries, textbooks, and resource books for schools. The Primary division has a focus on publishing printed and digital product for core maths and English skills. We do not publish one-off children's books for the general market. The Secondary Division has a focus on publishing printed and digital resources for English, Science, History, Geography, Mathematics, Health and Food Technology, Business and Legal.

Guidelines for submitting a publishing proposal

Your proposal should include:

  • Contact details – your name, work and home address, email address, and telephone and facsimile numbers.
  • Curriculum vitae – your academic qualifications, current position, relevant past positions, and previous publications or an updated version if you have already published with OUPANZ.
  • Rationale – a brief statement of the aims and approach of your proposal.
  • Market – identify the course and year level for the material.
  • Provide details of any syllabus change relevant to your proposal.
  • Competition information – identify the current resources and indicate how your approach and content compares with them.
  • Table of contents.
  • Sample chapter – modelling the chapter structure for the book.
  • Ancillary material – outline your ideas and expectations for any additional materials that will help promote and sell the material, such as web support, teacher resources, study guides, and digital content.
