The Nursery Pack includes a handbook specially written for those working in nurseries and pre-schools, including guidance on teaching sounds (Speed Sounds) and early sound-blending. It also includes resources for teaching the Set 1 Speed Sounds, including Set 1 Speed Sounds cards (small and A4), Picture Sounds cards, and a Sound-Picture Frieze. Once confident with their sounds, children may move on to blending, with the help of a Fred Frog beanie toy, using the Nursery Green Word Cards for learning blending and ten Sound Blending Books for blending practice.

Ruth Miskin is one of the UKs leading authorities on teaching children to read. She has many years experience as a head teacher, teacher trainer and consultant in phonics and literacy, working with primary and secondary schools throughout the UK. Ruth has been an adviser to the government on many aspects of literacy teaching since 1997. Her work has been featured both by Newsnight on BBC2 and Dispatches on Channel 4. Ruth was awarded an OBE for Services to Education in 2011.
