Fully-decodable texts

The 52 fiction and non-fiction texts are fully decodable which are fully aligned to the Letters and Sounds phonics framework.

New sounds and high-frequency words are introduced in themed pairs of
fiction and non-fiction.

They are meticulously levelled to phonic and wider word reading criteria across Oxford Reading Levels 1-8

Phonic and Comprehension Coaching

The series provides support for embedding phonic knowledge, with guidance for the practice of newly introduced sounds and high-frequency words.

Includes guidance for explicitly teaching and modelling comprehension strategies.

Comprehension questions are provided to monitor students’ use of
comprehension skills during reading, including before-, during- and
after-reading materials.

Comprehensive Guidance for Teaching

The Teacher Handbook includes a detailed overview of the phonics
framework and introduction of high-frequency words.

Supports teaching, modelling and developing comprehension strategies and skills - including the use of the metacognitive strategy ‘thinking aloud’.

Outlines and explains the Comprehension Skills Framework and its
application across the series.
