Supporting your school's reading room success

Primary school reading rooms play an important role in helping educators match books to readers, and in sparking journeys that inspire a love of reading.

At Oxford, we appreciate reading rooms contain resources across a range of reading programs, and that keeping track of levelled resources can be a time-consuming task for literacy coordinators and teachers.

We’re here to assist in a practical way to help organise your reading resources into a consistent system to support student reading journeys. Connect with your Oxford Education Consultant to learn more about a free, no-obligation Reading Room Review.

Help every student to progress their reading in carefully considered stages

At Oxford, we use an expertly developed, well-established system for levelling our books, which has been used to develop many of our popular and well-loved series, and support all students to progress at every stage of their reading journey. Oxford levels:

  • span from the very early stages of reading in Foundation (Oxford Level 1) all the way up to an advanced Year 6 reader’s level (Oxford Level 20)
  • are matched to age-related expectations
  • follow a structured phonic progression matched to the Letters and Sounds phonic sequence (applicable to our phonically decodable titles).
